Rapunzel, Rapunzel...

So, lately I have been getting a lot of compliments on my hair. Like, a lot! People say how beautiful it looks (just because it's so long!) and how shiny it is (because I spend an hour and a half twice a week sizzling the crap out of it using a 400-degree, $200 flat iron!!!) and it makes me think to myself..."if only they knew." Don't get me wrong, I love compliments as much as the next person...but you know how you can go into the salon and get a deep conditioning treatment on your hair? Well, I think that I need about 40 of those...like, now! Yes, I can mask all the dryness and give it that silky-smooth finish...but I know that by doing that, I'm only making the situation worse and pretty soon I won't be able to hide and it will look like I have a stack of hay sitting on the top of my head. And the way my hair is falling out, you would think that I would wake up in the morning completely bald! I'm talking 6 or 7 HANDFULS coming out in the shower, plus another 3-4 handfuls just from brushing. It's crazy! Yet, it's still huge and thicker than ever!

Now, I know what some of you are thinking..."that's not normal! Why not go to the doctor?" The thing is, is that it's only been bad like this since having Punkin. And I did mention it to my doctor at my postpartum check-up and she informed me that it was happening because while pregnant, the baby pretty much sucks up all the Mother's nutrients. I then asked "isn't that what the pre-natal vitamins are for?" to which she replied "yes, but that is why it is important to continue taking the vitamins even AFTER you have the baby." Okay, then. I will admit that I already knew I should have continued taking the pre-natals after giving birth. And I don't know why I didn't. Maybe it was because the chaos of having a new baby in the house plus trying to recoup from the delivery just diverted my attention a little bit. Or maybe it was because I was just so happy to be done with trying to choke down two gigantic pills everyday when sometimes I couldn't even keep food or liquids down. Either way, it didn't happen and I'm pretty sure that I'm paying the price for it now. But seriously, c'mon!!! This is ridiculous! Hasn't it been long enough?

I was looking at Punkin's hair today because hers is getting pretty long as well. It looked so pretty. She too, gets compliments on her hair all the time. It's a light brown with blonde highlights so it shimmers in the sun and looks like a golden honey color. So now she has the good hair...meanwhile, mine is still falling out, drying out, and getting everywhere! Lovely! Well, hopefully the vitamins I started will begin to help. I will keep you posted...
