Hawaiian Burgers

I don't know about everyone else out there, but if I'm going to eat a hamburger (and I will admit that I like to have them from time to time), I would much rather have one that is homemade. I don't care if they are thrown on the grill or pan-fried, homemade burgers just taste WAY better than anything you can get from a restaurant. Okay, maybe the stuff from In n Out comes pretty close, but you get my point. And since I cook 99% of our meals at home, I am always looking for new recipes and ways to spice up old ones. Most of the time, I just do a little experimenting in the kitchen using whatever ingredients I have on hand. Like this one. I wanted to make hamburgers but it was raining so we couldn't turn on the grill and I didn't want to have a plain old burger so I did something different.

First of all, I always add diced onion (I got a little lazy small-chopping this one), garlic salt and pepper to my ground beef.

Next, I had some canned pineapple that I fried up with some of it's juices.

I can't even tell you how good this smells!

When making these burgers, I either add a little teriyaki marinade to the beef mix or I add some to the pan while frying the burgers. They come out super juicy!

Then I put the beef patties on giant potato burger buns (with the condiment of your choice), top them with the pineapple slices and some teriyaki sauce (sauce should be a little on the thick side). And voila! Your own homemade hawaiian-style burgers! I served mine with potato salad.

The burgers in this picture are "plain". I put the sauce, lettuce, tomato, and avocado on mine! :-)
