So I know I've been taking a few breaks and it's been a while since you've seen some consistency from me around here, but I have a good excuse this time...I promise. Here he is...
I'd like you to meet the newest addition to the Love and Pancakes family. I think bringing forth a new being into the world is as good excuse as any for being a little M.I.A. in the bloggy world?
I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like I was pregnant forever. Even friends and family felt like I had been pregnant forever and we didn't even announce the pregnancy until I was 12 weeks! Maybe it was just the anticipation? The excitement? Especially the last couple of months, sheesh! It was like everything was happening in slow motion. Like it took months to go from this...
Yes, I am very pregnant in these pics, despite what some may think. And it was very much noticeable when I turned to the side! Photo on the left was taken only 2 weeks before little man arrived.
*sigh* I sure am in love, though.
He was born two weeks early on January 12th (original due date was the 27th). Although, he was born 8lbs and 20in., so I'm thinking they could have been off on my due date. I had my doctor appointment that Thursday before and was already measuring at 41 weeks so they scheduled me for an ultrasound the following Monday to see if it was being caused by fluid or to see if I would be indeed giving birth to a baby hippo. My water broke Saturday night and he came via c-section on Sunday morning.
I really did not want to have a c-section but there were just too many risk factors that made it the best option. I was dilated to 10 for 3 hours and trying to push him out that entire time. He was not budging, which was causing some problems. When the doctor asked me what I wanted to do, I told him that I wanted the baby out as safely and quickly as possible.
"Awesome Big Sister" and "Cutest Little Brother"
And now here he is. As beautiful and cute and precious as ever! Hubby is one proud daddy. He took some time off work right after the delivery and spent every minute of it being in total daddy mode. It was all about him and the baby. He did everything. I didn't even change my first diaper until little man was 3 days old. We got to leave the hospital after only a day and a half after the surgery and I know this would not have been possible if it weren't for my husband taking such good care of us. I've been counting my blessings and am incredibly thankful to have recovered so quickly.
Now our family is plus one and we couldn't be happier. Our hearts are overfilled with love and joy. So thankful to God for this wonderful blessing.
P.S. Gonna try to get things updated and in order around here while I'm still on maternity leave. Wish me luck. :)
