Happy 9th Birthday, To My Baby Girl!

Monday was the birthday of my beautiful first born! I can't believe how fast time has flown by. I remember starting this blog when she was just a few months old!!! ❤ She has grown into such an amazing young lady. She has the biggest heart and cares so much for others. I get comments from her teacher, and even other teachers at her school, who have come to me to tell me how caring she is and how much they love her. She is such an inspiration to me and I am truly thankful that God chose me to be her mommy!

We decided to celebrate her birthday this weekend. It has been a bit of a rough week. She got pretty hurt last weekend (which you can see on my Instagram stories), then got sick on Wednesday. Thankfully, it was just her and I who caught whatever bug it was and she was better by the weekend (I'm still working on it). Since I just recently started updating the blog after taking a very long break, I will talk about our new birthday tradition. About 3 years ago, I took her out for afternoon tea for her birthday. She was so excited because she got to dress up nice, and act like a little lady. Well, we had so much fun that we decided to do it again and now it is a tradition. So every year for my girl's birthday, I take her out for afternoon or high tea. Which we did yesterday.

Orange Hazelnut tea was her choice!
Tea sandwiches & assorted desserts

Blueberry scones, pepper jelly, & Devonshire cream

After, we took her shopping for her present and then went to dinner.

Which we had to wait to try out until today since it was pouring rain all day yesterday.

This will help be good practice for her. If you haven't been following my Instagram, she has taken a major interest in hockey and has participated in some girls hockey events. Her dad, Jon and I agreed that this is something we would let her get into. We are planning later this year to first have her take a learning to ice skate class (she went ice skating for the first time this last winter and loved it, but definitely needs more practice), then we can move onto having her get into hockey next year.

She loves taking baths, even though I mostly make her take showers. So today I prepped her a special bubble bath!

I tried to make it fancy for her, so I got her a little cupcake bath bomb, lemonade and various chocolates. She was in love!

Today, we also did the cake!

It didn't take as long as I thought it would to make, and I was so excited. This cake cost me less than $15 to make, including the butterfly mold. How awesome is that!? Also, if you haven't noticed a theme here, one of her current obsessions is butterflies. The other is Paris. She wants to go to Paris so bad. So I told her that I would take her for her 16th birthday if she continued to save her money. She's really good about saving birthday and Christmas money, and using maybe just a small portion if there is something she really wants. So God willing, I will be doing a birthday post from Paris in a few years! ❤

I love that I can give my girl a special birthday, especially while being on a budget! She's such a great kid and deserves all of this plus more!

We love you, my Haley bug!
